Everything but the Bagel Sourdough Crackers

May 5, 2020 By Lane 1 Comment

Anyone else feel like they are on their millionth meal since this whole “Stay at Home” thing started? Can’t think about planning (let alone executing) one more “balanced meal”? I am here for you. Many of my meals lately have been fruit + cheese + crackers + nuts. Not only because it’s easy, but also because it has served to rid the fridge and cupboards of leftovers in a very simple kind of way. And although I know Holly just recently showed you a simple healthy cracker recipe, I’m going to show you another. Because this is how we roll. Everything but the Bagel Sourdough Crackers are your next dinner weapon. Or lunch. Or breakfast. Or snack. Who even knows what time it is anymore anyway?

Creamy Vanilla Fruit Dip

June 25, 2019 By Holly 24 Comments

Just in time for the Fourth of July, we are bringing back a favorite recipe from the With Two Spoons archive that is easy to dress up with some red, white, and blue! This Creamy Vanilla Fruit Dip is a summer time entertaining staple. With only four simple ingredients, it is ready in just a few minutes and is perfect for kids and adults. We first published this recipe in April of last year and it has quickly become a favorite!

[Originally published April 24, 2018]

Spring has finally sprung here in the midwest and, after surviving nearly two feet of new snow last week, the sun is out and I just went for a run in shorts and a tee shirt. My gratitude for the warm weather knows no bounds after this doozy of a winter!  In addition to warmer temps, one of my favorite things about this time of year is that spring means berry season. My kids, who would probably live on berries if I let them, are especially excited about the rapidly increasing abundance of fresh fruit. While we typically just eat berries plain (by the handful or pint!), sometimes I love to serve them with this Creamy Vanilla Fruit Dip. It’s a simple recipe, perfect for parties and really makes your average berry feel like a special dessert.

Lemon Rosemary White Bean Dip

May 21, 2019 By Lane 4 Comments

Here in Minneapolis we finally saw our first 80 degree day.  Everyone flocked outside to take advantage of the amazing sunshine.  People congregated on driveways, at parks, around our 10,000+ lakes.  Just so dang happy to be outside!

But as the temperatures go up, and everyone gathers outside, snacks are needed.  Like this Lemon Rosemary White Bean Dip made with Fresh Crush Rosemary Olive Oil from the Queen Creek Olive Mill. Perfect for a summer gathering (or really ANY gathering).

Don’t trust me?  It’ll take you FIVE minutes to make it this delicious dip and you can see for yourself!

Ricotta Toast with Caramelized Red Onion and Fig Tapenade

November 27, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

With Christmas and New Year’s just around the corner, I have holiday entertaining on the brain. In addition to hosting a few Christmas parties, my husband and I usually have a small New Year’s Eve celebration with close friends. All of these gatherings are so fun, but planning so much food can get overwhelming. To keep it simple, I love to center the menu around heavier appetizers that are easily prepared ahead of time and endlessly customizable to the dietary needs and preferences of our guests. This year, I’m planning to make these Ricotta Toast with Caramelized Red Onion and Fig Tapenade for more than a few gatherings! Ricotta Toasts with Caramelized Red Onion and Fig Tapenade

Salt and Vinegar Roasted Chickpeas

October 9, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

Despite my love of baking, when it comes to snacks, I am generally a salty/crunchy kind of snack girl. Donuts, cookies, cake? I can take them or leave them most days. But set out a bowl of chips and salsa or a piping hot batch of french fries and I am ALL OVER IT. Lately, I’ve been loving these Salt and Vinegar Roasted Chickpeas.…

Honey Harissa Chicken Wings

September 18, 2018 By Holly 12 Comments

If you’ve been reading our blog for a while, you might know that I used to be a vegetarian. I stopped eating meat in middle school and didn’t venture back into omnivore land until just before I got married. After so many years without meat, I definitely still have no problems with a veggie heavy diet but I do have a confession to make: I totally regret missing out on years of bacon and chicken wings. Yes, that’s right. I missed out on nearly 15 years of chicken wings and I’m now on a quest to make up for it.Honey Harissa Chicken Wings-2…

Simple Pico de Gallo

July 3, 2018 By Holly 1 Comment

Pico de gallo is one of my all-time favorite summer recipes. Now, I use the word recipe pretty loosely because it’s definitely a simple combination of foods, tossed together, and endlessly customizable. That being said, traditional pico de gallo is a fresh salsa (and is also sometimes called salsa fresca) typically made with tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime, and salt. It is always coarsely chopped, never blended, and it’s uses are endless. Simple Pico de Gallo…
