Friends, I present for your internet reading pleasure: Good (Food) Reads. If you’re new to our little site, Good (Food Reads) is our our weekly collection of recipe inspiration from around the web. There are so many great foodies and bloggers and the inspiration abounds! I’m hungry just thinking about all of these recipes. Personally, I’ve got the Grilled Strawberry Shortcake and Greek Wedge Salad on my family’s meal plan for the week. What new recipes are you excited to check out? As always, if you have anything (links, recipes of your own, or great foodie blogs) we should know about, please send them our way. We love to share the foodie love here on Good (Food) Reads!
Ok, off we go…
I’ve become a big fan of Andie Mitchell’s after getting her cookbook, Eating in the Middle (available here). I’m really excited to try this Cashew Ginger Granola with Medjool Dates and Sesame Seeds. It sounds like the perfect topping for the crazy good Indonesian vanilla bean yogurt I’ve been devouring (find it at Costco!).
The wedge salad is such a classic and I love the way that Cookie + Kate gave it a perfect little summer twist with the Greek Wedge Salad . Also, I’m a sucker for anything with kalamata olives. Love those salty little suckers.
Lentil Salad with Tomato and Cucumbers as featured on Yummy Mummy, might just be the perfect spa-like detox salad I’ve been looking for this summer. Wouldn’t it be a fancy take to work lunch? This one is totally on my list to make ASAP.
Now, lest you think I’m too foodie virtuous with all that salad talk, I present: Grilled Strawberry Shortcake (Joy the Baker). My husband is getting a new grill shortly and I can’t wait to give it a test run with these beauties.
Almond cakes are one of my favorite sweet treats in the world. And this summer I’ve been obsessed with blueberries. I think this recipe might just be my own personal heaven right now: Blueberry Almond Tea Cake (A Beautiful Plate).
Banana Muffins with Olive Oil and Dark Chocolate via How Sweet It is. Baked goods with olive oil are amazing (and I love using oils from Queen Creek Olive Mill in Phoenix) and I can’t wait to try these muffins. My little guy loves bananas and dark chocolate so I have a feeling he’ll be very happy when mama gets around to making a batch of these lovelies.
I will confess that I’m a total fan-girl of Brenda over at A Farm Girl’s Dabbles. Everything she does is really just fantastic. These Jalapeno Grilled Sweet Corn Muffins (A Farm Girl’s Dabbles) are no exception! I can’t wait to try them and maybe even freeze an extra batch to serve with a hearty chili this fall?
My mom used to make a version of this Crunchy Ramen Noodle Salad (Sugar and Soul) when I was growing up. I love Rebecca’s suggestion to add chicken for a heartier version! On my list for this weekend, for sure.
One of my favorite things about Good (Food) Reads, is that it gives me the opportunity to bookmark cool, a little bit out-there recipes to try later. These Cayenne Caramels with a Pretzel Bacon Crust viaHey Grill, Hey, are exactly the type of recipe I love to save for a rainy day in the kitchen.
And finally, how beautiful is this Orange Maple Glazed Salmon (Let’s Dish). What a perfect option for a quick and easy weeknight meal that is full of flavor and definitely on the healthier side, which let’s face it, I’m going to need after all of the muffins, cakes, and caramels I featured this week!
Well friends, that’s it for this week’s Good (Food) Reads. As always, we love to hear from you so send us your recipes, tips and tricks!
