Egg Nog French Toast

A holiday spiced take on a breakfast classic.

  • 1 loaf french bread preferably day old
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup egg nog I used Southern Comfort classic
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for sprinkling
  • 1 tablespoon butter unsalted for the pan


  1. Heat a griddle or large nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
  2. Slice your bread into approximately 1 inch thick slices.
  3. In a large bowl, lightly beat the eggs.
  4. Whisk in the egg nog, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Melt the butter on your griddle or skillet.
  6. Briefly soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture and then place on the buttered skillet.
  7. Allow to cook 3-4 minutes or until golden.
  8. Sprinkle the top with a generous bit of sugar and flip, cooking the other side 3-4 minutes until done.
  9. Keep warm and serve immediately with syrup and extra butter!
