Salted Caramel Apple Tart

  • Crust:
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup flour
  • I cup salted caramel sauce homemade or store bought
  • Filling:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • Apples:
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 3-4 apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg


  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix butter, sugar, salt, cinnamon and flour until a wet dough forms.
  3. Press dough into a 9 inch tart pan.
  4. Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  5. Allow tart crust to cool.
  6. Spread salted caramel (you will need to warm it if it is cold) over the tart crust.
  7. Allow to cool in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  8. In a stand mixer mix filling ingredients (cream cheese, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt) until smooth.
  9. Set cream cheese filling aside.
  10. Melt butter in a medium skillet.
  11. Spread apples in skillet.
  12. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  13. Stir and cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are tender, but have not lost their shape.
  14. Turn off head and allow apples to sit and additional 5 minutes.
  15. Spread cream cheese filling over cooled caramel in tart crust.
  16. Arrange apples on top of cream cheese filling.
  17. Drizzle apples with additional caramel.
  18. Refrigerate 1 hour to set filling.
  19. Slice and serve!
