Despite the lingering warm weather, it is definitely fall here in Minnesota. The leaves are changing, the kids are back in school and the apple orchards are in full swing. On a beautiful fall Monday morning I went to the Apple House where the University of Minnesota sells apples from its orchards. Of course I bought many too bags of apples for my family to eat-and then needed a plan. My kids knew exactly what they wanted me to do with the extra apples. It was unanimous! Autumn Apple Crisp!
The good news about a crisp is that it is easy to make, universally loved and makes your house smell great! Simple ingredients allow the flavor of the apples shine through. So grab your kids. Head to the nearest apple orchard. Spend a morning picking (or browsing through already picked) apples and then make your own autumn apple crisp! Your kids will thank you.

This is so beautiful! Definitely making me hungry.
What kind of apples did you use? I’m thinking Honey Crisp would be perfect for this!! Sounds so tasty!
I actually used SweeTangos (a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar) for this one, but Honeycrisp would have been awesome too!
I’m ready for Fall now!
First time I’ve used melted butter in a crisp but it made it set so much better. I used Bramley apples and this recipe is honestly one of the nicest I’ve ever made, and I’ve tried quite a few different apple crisp recipes! Thank you for sharing it xx
Yay! So glad to hear you liked it. I haven’t ever used Bramley apples, but will definitely give it a try!
