There is so much going on this September, I’m going to dive right into the Good Food Reads: Friday Five! Come along to see what’s happening in our kitchens and our lives!

1.Homecoming. It’s time for Homecoming! Football games and dances! It looks like the high temperature for our Homecoming Game is 56°F, so you can bet it will be chilly at the game. You may want to gather your windproof/waterproof blanket, your Yeti tumbler, and your fleece mittens (think big and cozy!). Although the excitement of Friday Night Lights is fun, it’s really all about the dance. My daughter is gathering her group of gal pals and heading out to the Homecoming dance the following evening. They’ll get dressed up, take thousands of cute photos, giggle over a parent-less dinner, and maybe even do a little dancing (maybe). From what I can tell, it’s all about the pre and post dance. Do any of your kids have great Homecoming plans? We’d love to see your photos! Head to our Facebook page and post them on our page for us to see!
2. My daughter turns 16! I can’t believe how quick the years have flown by. It’s true what they say “The days are long but the years are short”. To be honest it all feels short right now. My darling daughter just took her drivers license test and PASSED. Yikes, how can I be old enough to have a legal driver? For her birthday we got her tickets to see Ed Sheeran next month and tickets to see James Bay in March. It’s great fun having a kid who loves music-playing it, hearing it, seeing it! Plus we get to spend a little more time together. Have you seen any great concerts lately?
3. San Diego. I’m headed to sunny California for the weekend to attend a conference. Although I’ve been to LA, San Francisco, Napa, even Fresno, I’ve never been to San Diego. I’m looking forward to a little sun and fun. Although I’ll be in conference during the day, I’ve still got evenings to go to dinner and check out the local cuisine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Plus TWO plane trips where I can just sit and dig into a great novel or cookbook (see below). What are you all reading? I’m about to start this one which has been on my list forever!
4. Cookbooks. My addiction to cookbooks runs strong. I realized this week that I have them in three different locations throughout my house and there are at least 3 full sized bookcases FULL of them. I even bring one when I travel. I decided to bring this one with me this weekend, although I am looking forward to digging into this one (Holly’s current favorite) and this one when I get back from San Diego. Have I mentioned Holly and I are heading to see Ina in November? She’s coming to Minneapolis, and we could not be more excited. What cookbooks are you loving right now?
5. Paris. I’m heading there next Friday. I’ve never been and I CAN NOT WAIT!! We are staying in the 6th arr. and are so excited about seeing the magical Eiffel Tower, walking along the Seine River and seeing the Louve. Chocolate crossaints anyone? We only have 3 days in Paris, but I want to see as much as I can! What things have you loved in The City of Light? What should we spend our time doing? I have some ideas, but I sure would love to hear from those of you who have been there!
We would love to see you on social media! #WithTwoSpoons and we’ll connect!
