Fall. Autumn. October. Whatever you want to call it, I LOVE IT! My favorite time of year! And in Minneapolis, the absolutely most beautiful time of year! Let me tell you why!

My Favorite Fall Weather!
The weather in Minneapolis in September and October is so much fun because it is so unpredictable! The temperature can be anywhere from 85 degrees to 45 degrees. We pull out our jackets and layer on the sweaters. Sometimes we leave the house in the morning in heavy coats, but come home in the afternoon stripped down to T-shirts. Then just as we think we’re heading on into winter, we’ll get a surprise 70 degree day and it is like heaven. And let’s talk about the leaves. The trees give us an amazing display of nature with their reds, yellows, and oranges. Driving through any old regular part of town is a treat for the senses.
My Favorite Fall Jeans and Sweaters
There is nothing more comfortable than jeans and sweaters. My current favorite are these Slink jeans from Nordstrom (the perfect skinny jeans for those of us who aren’t actually skinny), although my Not Your Daughter’s Jeans from Nordstrom are a close second. And SWEATERS! My favorite ones this year have been from Targets. This back belt cardigan goes perfectly with everything (especially jeans and even leggings). This cozy, casual crewneck is another favorite. Best thing? All of these go with my short brown boots. Although not a capsule wardrobe per se, simple and casual reigns supreme in my life!
My Favorite Fall Apple Orchard
A perfect morning spent at Minnetonka Orchards was just what the doctor ordered. Cool crisp weather, a hay ride, a corn maze, and a playground for the kids. Apple cider, caramel apples, and apple cider donuts were the treats of the day. But the real star of the orchard was of course the apple picking! HoneyCrisp, Sweet 16, and SweetTango trees just ripe for the picking. Bags and bags of beautiful apples came home with us and although I’ve eaten at least an apple a day, I’ve still got plenty of leftovers to make this Autumn Apple Crisp or this One Skillet Apple Bourbon Pork Tenderloin.
Back to School
There is something so exciting about sending the kids back to school. All of the promise of a bright new year. New school supplies, new teachers, new books. Back to the routine that keeps my house semi-sane. I love it all. And have a I mentioned our Back to School Brunch? The mamas in my neighborhood have been meeting for brunch on the first day of school for over 10 years now! It’s a fabulous tradition complete with great food and cocktails, not to mention pats on the back for making it through the summer! But let’s be honest…having those days to myself where I don’t have to work and the kids are in school-PRICELESS.
My Favorite Fall Starbucks
Bet you thought I was going to say I loved the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Hell no. You all can keep your overly creamy, overly sweet, coffee drinks for yourselves (no judgement if you wait all year for the iconic PSL-you do you). I will just be over here ordering my Venti Cold Brew, no room for cream please. Cold and black. Exactly how I’m drinking it as I type. Delicious!
