I have total Olympic Fever and I’m going to apologize in advance if it means that this week’s Good (Food) Reads is a little shorter than usual. There are swimming races, gymnastics competitions, and beach volleyball to watch, right?!?! And honestly, I feel a little guilty posting such decadent recipes after watching the swimmers (#absfordays)! So, before I head down the rabbit hole of kale and no carbs, here are this week’s Good (Food) Reads for you, filled with yummy appetizers, giant cinnamon rolls, and even WINE GUMMY BEARS. Yes, you read that right. WINE GUMMY BEARS. That’s what we do here for you on Good (Food) Reads. You’re welcome.
My dear husband has a major sweet tooth and cinnamon rolls are a favorite. He is obsessed with a certain macadamia nut cinnamon roll from the Honolua General Store in Kapalua, Maui. I’m thinking if I add some mac nuts to these Big Giant Cinnamon Rolls (Sally’s Baking Addiction), I might be able to hold him over until our next trip to the islands.
I tend to prefer salty breakfast indulgences and this recipe for Roasted Potato Hash (The New York Times) seems right up my alley. On the to do list for this weekend, for sure!
As more and more stores are filled with Back to School displays and fall clothes, I can’t help but start to think of warm, comfort meals. This Creamy Honey Mustard Chicken with Crispy Bacon (Cafe Delites) will be a great weeknight dinner once the weather cools down a bit. Bookmarked!
I continue to crave ALL THE CARBS this pregnancy and I’m really excited to try Molly Yeh’s Scallion Pull Apart Bread and Sweet Paul’s Skillet Bread with Fennel. If I eat some salad on the side, it could be a meal, right?!?!
Speaking of salad, this Quinoa Caprese Salad (Joy in Every Season) will be a great lighter weeknight dinner and perfect use for all of those gorgeous late summer tomatoes!
Speaking of late summer bounty, who has extra zucchini they want to share with me? I had the best intentions for my container garden this year and it just didn’t happen. This Zucchini and Thyme Galette (My Kitchen Love) will happen, however. And soon.
Crab Dip with Garlicky Gougères (A Thought for Food) is also going to happen. Probably this weekend. I’ll report back.
I have a love affair with peanut noodles. They are such a satisfying and portable lunch. I can’t wait to try this version of Thai Peanut Sauce Noodles (The Lemon Bowl).
And finally, as promised, I present to you: DIY Rosé Wine Gummy Bears (Sprinkle Bakes). Just because.
Until next week…
