Welcome to another edition of Good Food Reads! I don’t know about you guys, but I have had one tough week. I got diagnosed with strep and then my kindergarten aged son got strep as well. I’ve been dealing with a sick one while being sick myself which is doubly hard. But once again, my amazing work family rallied around me and took my shifts at work to allow me take care of myself and my family. This Cocktail Edition of Good Food Reads is dedicated to them-because I owe each and every one of them a drink!
Welcome to the Good Food Reads Cocktail Edition!
Let’s start with Buzzfeed’s 18 Summer Smash Drinks to Try. They had me at Prosecco Smash with Plum and Thyme. Really? This might be the perfect deck drink for my prosecco loving friends. And there are still 17 more!
Now on to the Blueberry Mojito by the Real Housemoms. Mojitos remind me of days on the beach, sunscreen and sand. And add blueberries…why that may even be healthy! After all blueberries are antioxidants, right?
Want a taste of the South? It’s almost Peach Season in the Deep South and what better to make with all of these juicy ripe peaches, than this Bourbon Peach Slush by the Speckled Palate? And if Bourbon isn’t your thing, how about this gorgeous Peach Sangria by Gather for Bread? The friends you choose to share these with will thank you!
How about a little spice? This Pineapple Cilantro Jalapeno Margarita by the Adventure Bite looks like it would fit the bill. Reminds me of a cocktail I once got at the Plaza Hotel right off of Central Park in Manhattan. Mmmm…the spicy taste of memory.
Has anyone ever make Limoncello? I hear it makes a great gift! I drank some of this iconic concoction in Capri last fall and I’ve been so intrigued by making it ever since. I may just grab a few Costco sized bags of lemons and try this recipe for Homemade Limoncello by Fed Up Foodie.
And for those who like a little history, Heartbeet Kitchen’s Racy Strawberry French 75 will take you back to a different era. Think Great Gatsby. Think gangsters and jazz, flappers and swank. Think Prohibition and speakeasies, glitter and gold.
And don’t forget our very own Lavender Lemonade Tonic. A unique twist on a classic drink.
Need something refreshing for those who don’t drink alcohol? No problem-we’ve got you covered! Try this Sparkling Pineapple Strawberry Punch by Maebelle. Bubbly, refreshing, and minty. The perfect summertime combination.
All of these cocktails and more can also be found on our Pinterest Board dedicated to cocktails. Feel free to follow it for more suggestions! And as always, if you are going to drink, drink responsibly.
What cocktails are you enjoying this spring? Let us know!
