Although technically a salad may not be completely necessary, the Thanksgiving salad is just so beautiful that you’re going to want to do it anyway. Plus it rounds out some of those heavy, carb-laden dishes we talked about last week! Smitten Kitchen’s Brussel Sprouts, Apples and Pomegranate Salad would be a great way to start. This Pomegranate, Squash, and Apple Salad was one of our earliest blog posts and is an ode to all of my favorite winter flavors. And if you’re looking for a way to incorporate brussels sprouts without roasting them, this Brussels Sprouts and Kale Salad from Epicurious is the bomb.
Cranberries! I love cranberries. So here is my ode to cranberries… I have tried this Cranberry Sauce by The Pioneer Woman and it is excellent. This Best Ever Cranberry Sauce by Mom on Timeout is similar. I can’t wait to try this Bourbon Vanilla Cranberry Sauce by How Sweet Eats-these flavors sound amazing. Want to go a little more nontraditional? Try this Cranberry Salsa with Cream Cheese by The Girl Who Ate Everything. I mean cranberry SALSA, what is better than that.
On to the vegetables. After all, everyone knows Thanksgiving is all about the side dishes and the vegetables should make up a lot of these sides! Since Serious Eats is my go to resource, I’m sure any of these Sweet Potato Recipes will be pure bliss. Dairy free? You can still enjoy this Green Bean Skillet Casserole by Simply Whisked. My family loves green beans and these Green Beans with Crispy Proscuitto by Food Faith Fitness would go over beautifully on my Thanksgiving table. I love brussels sprouts and these Maple Bacon Roasted Brussel Sprouts by Fox and Briar may just be my love language. Last by not least, this Creamed Jalapeno Spinach from our own blog is pretty simple and unbelievably tasty.
Give me all of the desserts. I can’t even decide where to start here. I was not a believer in bread pudding until I enjoyed one recently at a restaurant, and now I want every version I find. This Pumpkin Praline Bread Pudding by Flavor Mosaic seems particularly festive. According to my kids, it is not Thanksgiving without Pumpkin Pie. The Great Pumpkin Pie Recipe by Sally’s Baking Addiction should fit the bill. Ever since Holly introduced me to Dixie Pie from our blog, I try to find reasons to serve (and eat!) it. Thanksgiving sounds like the perfect reason! And don’t forget the traditional Old Fashioned Pecan Pie by Epicurious. There is definitely something for everyone when it comes to Thanksgiving dessert. Don’t forget to save some room!
That will about do it for our Thanksgiving 2017. What are you planning on putting on your Thanksgiving tables? Let us know in the comments below.
