Hey friends. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Are you celebrating today? Will you wear green? I will fully admit that I’m feeling a little blogger guilt about not having a totally Irish or green themed post for you today (#bloggerfail!) but we’re going to march forward with a bunch of Good Food Reads anyway, ok? Ok. I promise we do have some last minute St. Patrick’s Day themed recipe links for you, but for those who are not super into the holiday (that would be me, too!), we also have some great non-holiday foodie finds. You know, in case you don’t want to live on corned beef and green beer for the next week!
Looking to do some weekend baking? Try this gorgeous Hummingbird Cake. Studded with pineapple and banana and topped with a cream cheese frosting, this cake is a southern classic for a reason. Plus, Broma Bakery’s pictures are gorgeous.
I love the mix of flavors in this Moroccan-Spiced Chicken and Rice with Dates and Pistachios featured on Food52. It’s adapted from Diana Henry’s Simple, which you should also definitely check out.
Ok, this might be cheating a little, but I’ve found a great blog post with links on How To Use Preserved Lemons from Simple Bites. Lane made a batch of preserved lemons a while back and I’ve been thinking about grabbing some lemons from the lemon tree at my parents’ house and trying it as well!
And while I’m on a citrus kick, I’m going to try this beautiful Citrus Bundt Cake. Mom – we have some baking to do!!
I promised some St. Patrick’s Day recipe links and here they are. I’m starting with an amazingly clever recipe from How Sweet It Is: Irish Soda Bread French Toast with Whiskey Syrup and Whipped Cream. Holy amazing. Now that’s my kind of holiday themed eating!
One of my favorite Irish ingredients is Guinness. I like to drink it, sure, but I really like to cook with it as well. It’s the secret sauce in my Stout Chili and it’s a great addition to chocolate cupcakes, too. Or try this amazing Chocolate Guinness Cake from genius Nigella Lawson. Cooking Light has a round up of 14 Ways to Cook With Guinness that is definitely adding a few recipes to my list!
And because I’m still obsessed with my InstantPot: Pressure Cooker Short Ribs with Red Wine and Chili.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. May you have the luck of the Irish in everything you make this weekend!
