Oh, you guys. I have had the worst sweet tooth lately. Typically, I love to bake sweets and treats but primarily for others. My husband has a legendary addiction to all things sugar, but typically I lean towards the salty/crunchy snacks. As the weather has turned, I’ve found myself gravitating toward butter, sugar, and most definitely all things chocolate. Since I’ve been delving into all of these sweet treat recipes, I thought I’d share a few I’ve recently tried or am planning to make with you all for this week’s Good Food Reads: Sweets and Treats.
I made a batch of Half Baked Harvest’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies the other night and they are fantastic. The recipe is a little strange and the dough is slightly persnickety, but once you get the feel of it, these cookies are easy and fantastic. I love the one-bowl approach to baking and the simple ingredients, too!
As I’m always looking for new cookies recipes (and who can resist a good pumpkin recipe this time of year?), I’m excited to try these Pumpkin Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.
If you’re still in need of a pumpkin fix, what about these Pumpkin Gingerbread Truffles? They would be perfect for a special dinner or tea with friends.
And…if you really want to go all out, give these Mini Vanilla Poundcakes with Labneh Frosting and Roasted Grapes a try. Your friends will definitely be impressed!
Breakfast is as good as any a time for sweets and treats, right? These Fluffy Lemon-y Ricotta Pancakes sound perfect for a lazy saturday morning. Or if you’ve got a little extra time, a round or two of Small Batch Sweet Potato Cinnamon Rolls (and they’re Vegan!) might be just the thing. And if that all seems like too much work, a twist on a classic monkey bread would be amazing: Caramel Apple Monkey Bread
Chai Spiced Buttermilk Beignets would be perfect for an afternoon coffee date or brunch with friends! Some scones and Fig and Rosé Jam would also be amazing, especially with a glass of sparkling wine or prosecco (or hey, even rosé!).
Finally, if you’re looking for a sweet treat that kids and adults alike will love (and you are feeling crafty!) check out these adorable Halloween Oreo Pops!
As always, if you’ve got any great recipes to share, we’d love to feature them on Good Food Reads! Here’s to a weekend full of sweets, treats, and Good Food Reads.
