Good Food Reads: Travel Inspired Recipes

February 16, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

I’ve always loved the excitement of travel and the experiences of getting lost in a new culture. Over the years, my travels have taken me around the globe and I have so many great memories from each trip I’ve taken. Many of those memories are centered around special meals, shared with friends, in various places around the world. I love trying new foods and flavors and I especially love that those foods can come home with me and help me to relive those great memories in my own kitchen! When I’m feeling the wanderlust and I don’t have time to hit the road, I head to the grocery store and get cooking. This week’s Good Food Reads is inspired by some of my favorite foods from travel destinations I’ve loved in my life. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Good Food Reads Travel Inspired

One of my favorite travel destinations is Mexico. I started going there with my family when I was a kid and continue to travel there most years, now with my own kiddos in tow. One of my favorite things to eat while there is chilaquiles. I’m typically partial to a variety with chicken and salsa verde, but this recipe Chilaquiles with Fried Eggs from Bon Appetit is on my list to try ASAP!…

The countdown is ON. With only two days until Super Bowl LII, it is definitely go-time on the game day menu. I don’t play favorites when it comes to grazing. I’ve got some great plans for my own game day menu and thought I’d share some of my Super Bowl Party Favorites right here in case you’re looking for some fun new treats to make, too.

Good Food Reads: Keepers

January 19, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

Good Food Reads KeepersA few years back, I was given a great cookbook called Keepers. Put together by two home cooks with years of kitchen experience (and time working at Saveur), the book is a collection of tried and true recipes that they have collected over the years.  I have my own book of keepers. A beat up white, three ring binder, it holds all of the recipes my husband lovingly calls “The List.” Whenever I make a new recipe he really loves, he tells me to put it on The List. It’s the highest kitchen compliment in our home. Over the years I’ve adapted many of these recipes to our own tastes, but there are a few classics that I make over and over again, just as they were written. This week’s Good Food Reads is all about Keepers. …

December 22, 2017 By Holly Leave a Comment

Vanilla Cardamom Waffles

It’s almost here!! The countdown is on, friends. We are only a few days from Christmas and I don’t know about you, but I’m knee deep in food planning, gift wrapping, and general holiday craziness. One of my favorite parts of the Christmas holiday is breakfast on Christmas Morning. In our house, it’s typically a simple affair, with good coffee, some eggs and a sweet treat of fresh waffles or (more typically) cinnamon rolls. We cook and eat in our pajamas and take our time easing into the hustle and bustle of the rest of the day. I have a few recipes that I turn to for this holiday morning, but thought I’d put together a collection of Christmas Morning Recipes in case you’re looking for just the thing to make for your family this holiday! …
