Cinnamon Sugar Mini Donuts
The Minnesota State Fair (otherwise known as The Great Minnesota Get Together) is a must go event for hundreds of thousands of Midwesterners each summer. Held the two weeks before Labor Day, it’s an annual celebration of summer, fun, and really, really good food. While there are plenty of things to do at the fair that don’t involve food, I would say that for many people, the food is the fair experience at it’s finest. This week, Lane and I are teaming up with six amazing fellow food bloggers to bring you a collection of Minnesota State Fair Copycat Recipes! These fantastic foodies have recipes for all of the great fair foods (see the links below) and we’re joining in with a new recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Mini Donuts. …
Lemon Rosemary Shortbread
Well, it’s been a crazy few days around here. As many of you know, Lane spent the last week in beautiful Phoenix, Arizona. In a fun twist of fate, we actually had booked overlapping trips and had great plans for a fun dinner out in the land of sunshine. Unfortunately, I was caught up in the spectaular Delta scheduling debacle last weekend and my flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix was ultimately cancelled and we didn’t make it to Arizona in time to reschedule. I decided to drown my sorrows in some baked goods. Enter: Lemon Rosemary Shortbread.

German Chocolate Cake: Kids in the Kitchen
I got the sweetest text last month. One of my friends told me that her eight year old daughter was wondering “if that girl who makes really good cake” could come over and bake with her over the Christmas holiday. And when asked what she wanted to make, the answer was German Chocolate Cake. Yep, sounded good to me! This post chronicles their (super fun) day. The food isn’t styled, the lighting isn’t perfect, there was no thought given to composition, but hopefully it encourages you to get your own kids into the kitchen. It’s amazing what they can create!…
Edible Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
I’m not going to lie. Eleven days into this New Year thing and I’m struggling. I know I made some resolutions and they may or not have been about getting more healthy. But really, I’m hungry. And not for salad. Adulting makes me want to eat, and I feel like I’ve done my share of adulting lately. I may have solved my hunger problem with this Edible Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Well, one problem’s been solved anyway!…

Salted Caramel Apple Tart
I think I’ve previously mentioned my trip to the Apple House, where I bought too many apples (Is too many apples even a thing?). Although I made this fabulous Autumn Apple Crisp, which my family devoured, I also wanted to make something a bit more elegant. I’ve been on a tart kick lately-Blueberry Lemon Cream Cheese Tart, Raspberry Cream Cheese Tart, and I’ve found them not only easy to make, but also visually pleasing. Since I had just made Salted Caramel Sauce, and had so many apples, it seemed like a match made in heaven to create this Salted Caramel Apple Tart!…
Salted Caramel Sauce
I have been making salted caramel sauce for several years now. One year I even gave it as Christmas gifts for my friends and family. (I love homemade gifts-both giving and receiving!) But what everyone didn’t know is that the recipe that I had been using was unreliable. Some days the recipe would work for me…some days the recipe turned into a yellow, gritty mess. I went through a lot of ingredients and wasted a lot of time. Until I discovered this recipe for Salted Caramel Sauce by Sally’s Baking Addiction!…
Autumn Apple Crisp
Despite the lingering warm weather, it is definitely fall here in Minnesota. The leaves are changing, the kids are back in school and the apple orchards are in full swing. On a beautiful fall Monday morning I went to the Apple House where the University of Minnesota sells apples from its orchards. Of course I bought many too bags of apples for my family to eat-and then needed a plan. My kids knew exactly what they wanted me to do with the extra apples. It was unanimous! Autumn Apple Crisp!…
