Good Food Reads: Breakfast Time!

March 30, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

Growing up, I wasn’t much of a morning person. Truth be told, I’m still not much of one now. When I was little, my parents knew to give me some space in the morning. Quiet time to ease into the day. In addition to some quiet time, I usually didn’t want to eat breakfast right away. I’m not sure why, since now breakfast (and coffee!) is one of my favorite meals of the day. I love the wide range of breakfast treats, from sweets and baked goods, to savory omelets and – of course – bacon. My one regret from my vegetarian days really is that I missed out on many years of bacon! As we approach the Easter weekend, I’ve been planning our Easter breakfast menu and it got me thinking about and searching for some new and fun breakfast recipes to try. I thought you might like to try some, too. It’s Breakfast Time on Good Food Reads and I think you’re going to love it.

Easy Romesco Sauce

March 13, 2018 By Holly 6 Comments

As I’ve become more comfortable in the kitchen over the years, I’ve realized that a really good sauce can take a simple meal and make it into something really spectacular. A great pesto, a simple pan sauce, or just a great vinaigrette is often the difference between just okay and wow. Recently, I’ve been enamored with Spanish Romesco. Typically made with tomatoes and almonds, our Easy Romesco Sauce takes little more than 5 minutes with a food processor and some easily accessible ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

Lemon Roasted Shrimp with Broccoli and Rice: A Sheet Pan Dinner

February 27, 2018 By Holly 20 Comments

If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, you may know that I’m a really big fan of one-pot and sheet pan style dinners. Like so many busy parents, I rely on a well tested rotation of weeknight dinner recipes to get through those busy weeks. My personal collection of go to recipes seems to have a common theme: they are all easy to prepare, don’t need fancy ingredients, and don’t make a huge mess (because, let’s face it, dishes are the least fun part of cooking!). Recently, I’ve been looking to add some new dishes to our rotation and with winter seemingly never ending around here, I wanted to get some more bright flavors onto our plates. This week’s recipe for Lemon Roasted Shrimp with Broccoli and Rice does all of that and more. I think you’ll love it!

Good Food Reads: Travel Inspired Recipes

February 16, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

I’ve always loved the excitement of travel and the experiences of getting lost in a new culture. Over the years, my travels have taken me around the globe and I have so many great memories from each trip I’ve taken. Many of those memories are centered around special meals, shared with friends, in various places around the world. I love trying new foods and flavors and I especially love that those foods can come home with me and help me to relive those great memories in my own kitchen! When I’m feeling the wanderlust and I don’t have time to hit the road, I head to the grocery store and get cooking. This week’s Good Food Reads is inspired by some of my favorite foods from travel destinations I’ve loved in my life. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Good Food Reads Travel Inspired

One of my favorite travel destinations is Mexico. I started going there with my family when I was a kid and continue to travel there most years, now with my own kiddos in tow. One of my favorite things to eat while there is chilaquiles. I’m typically partial to a variety with chicken and salsa verde, but this recipe Chilaquiles with Fried Eggs from Bon Appetit is on my list to try ASAP!…

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

February 13, 2018 By Holly 16 Comments

I have a confession: I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I know, I know. It’s a holiday celebrating love. What’s not to, well, love? I adore the idea of celebrating those we cherish but truthfully, I sometimes think it’s all just a bit much. Overpriced flowers. Complicated and overpriced dinners. Boxes of chocolates filled with strange flavors where you just pray for the chocolate covered caramels. Well, I can’t do much about the flowers or the prix-fixe dinners, but I am going to share an amazing recipe for Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups that are simple, inexpensive, and way better than those heart shaped box options! Your Valentine will love them. And so will you.

Good Food Reads: Super Bowl Party Favorites!

February 2, 2018 By Holly Leave a Comment

The countdown is ON. With only two days until Super Bowl LII, it is definitely go-time on the game day menu. I absolutely love Super Bowl parties because they give me an excuse to make lots of appetizers and bite sized treats. Chips, dips, wings, cheese trays? I’m in. I don’t play favorites when it comes to grazing. I’ve got some great plans for my own game day menu and thought I’d share some of my Super Bowl Party Favorites right here in case you’re looking for some fun new treats to make, too.

The Only Dill Dip You’ll Ever Need

January 30, 2018 By Holly 8 Comments

Are you ready for some football? If you are a football fan (and even if you’re not) you know that the Super Bowl is just as much about the food and the commercials as it is the big game. As a resident of this year’s host city and a Patriots fan by marriage, it has been non-stop Super Bowl talk around here for some time. While I’m hoping the Pats can pull off another win, I’m mostly excited about all of the yummy snacks that come with Super Bowl parties. And if there’s one snack that no party should be without, it’s a good dill dip. Am I right?

The Only Dill Dip You'll Ever NeedWell we’ve got the perfect, easy dip for you just in time for the big game. It’s full of flavor, easy to make, and is absolutely delicious on veggies, drizzled over baked potatoes, or eaten with a spoon. Friends, meet The Only Dill Dip You’ll Ever Need.  …
