The easiest homemade slow cooker chicken noodle soup you will ever find (well, short of heading over to grandma’s house…)!

Instant Pot Maple Apple Steel Cut Oats

December 12, 2017 By Lane 11 Comments

The Instant Pot is my new favorite kitchen tool.  This Instant Pot Maple Apple Steel Cut Oats will make it your favorite as well!

Instant Pot Maple Apple Steel Cut Oats

Remember that Quaker oatmeal?  The kind that came in packets?  The one that came in many different flavors?  I was a particular fan of the Maple Brown Sugar flavor, but the Apple Cinnamon flavor came in a close second.  It was always hard to choose! I don’t know if it’s still around, but I figured it would be probably be pretty easy to make at home.  Always a girl to “want it all”, I decided that if I was making it, I sure wasn’t going to be choosing anymore, because truthfully Maple, Apple, and Cinnamon all worked perfectly together.  Given my current obsession with the Instant Pot, the path was clear.  Instant Pot Maple Apple Steel Cut Oats. Done and Done. …

Good Food Reads: Instant Pot Recipes

December 1, 2017 By Lane 10 Comments

I have gotten so many comments and questions lately on the Instant Pot. Yesterday this hilarious comment showed up on social media from my friend Dana, “So…I finally got an Instant Pot, and wouldn’t you know, the instructions said to have Lane come over and make something for you.”  Although I laughed, and said that I would be SO happy to go over and make food for her (you can hold me to this, Dana!) this actually made this Friday’s Good Food Reads: Instant Pot really easy to write.  Let’s talk about the Instant Pot! Read on further for some great Instant Pot recipes!

This Instant Pot Thai Butternut Squash Soup is a unique twist on an old favorite-made fast using the Instant Pot!

Instant Pot Thai Butternut Squash Soup

Winter is here in Minneapolis.  Oh sure, it’s not TECHNICALLY winter (which I’m reminded of frequently by my rule following 6 year old), but Thanksgiving is over, the cold has moved in, and it’s dark hours and hours before we go to bed.  (Notice I don’t say before I’m READY to go to bed…).  With the cold comes the need for soup.  Warm, comforting, fill-you-up soup.  Like this Instant Pot Thai Butternut Squash Soup. …

Good Food Reads: Thanksgiving 2017 Part 1

November 10, 2017 By Lane 3 Comments

Good Food Reads, a collection of thanksgiving foods

Oh my friends, it’s November!  And although November certainly means cold, windy, dark days here in Minneapolis, November is completely redeemed by the fact that it brings THANKSGIVING  (my very favorite holiday ever). Thanksgiving means thousands of sides, desserts, and leftovers for days.  I make homemade rolls that serve as dinner rolls on Thanksgiving Thursday and serve as the backbone of the perfect turkey sandwich on Black Friday.  Leftover stuffing and mashed potatoes serve as a Black Friday breakfast that dreams are made of.  I know y’all are planning your own Thanksgiving feasts, so here are a few suggestions!

(Never fear, this is only part 1!)
